Thank you for reading. Can you help me understand how a Palestinian right of return would be fundamentally different from the policy that allows Jewish people from all over the world to make aliyah to Israel? Or how the IDF killing thousands of civilians is fundamentally different from when Palestinian militants do it? Shouldn't killing civilians be considered wrong no matter who does it?

You are right that I don't have to live in Israel. This is why I found it so helpful to speak with a person who was born and raised in Jerusalem and yet decided to choose peace rather than joining the IDF. (You might be surprised how differently they treat tour groups when they are with Palestinian hosts — at no point did I feel like the police or armed soldiers searching our bus were doing anything resembling "protecting" us!)
